Network constituents

The ISS network is composed of 15 Branches, 4 Affiliated Bureaus, and a number of Correspondents active in more than 120 countries, and a General Secretariat. As a result, the organisation is represented in more than 140 countries with a broad worldwide impact.

  • The Branches are all not-for-profit organizations, legally independent. The following countries benefit from the services of being a National Branch: Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Philippines, Romania, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Venezuela.
  • The Affiliated Bureaus are governmental or non governmental entities linked to ISS by a special agreement aiming to implement one or more activities of the organisation.The following countries benefit from the services of an Affiliated Bureau: Israel, New Zealand, Portugal and South Africa.

Affiliated Bureaus and Branches are members of the International Council of ISS and commit themselves to respect principles of the organisation.

  • The Correspondents are governmental or non governmental institutions having an agreement with ISS with the purpose of implementing one or several activities of the organisation. Correspondents commit themselves to respect the principles of ISS.

What are we looking for ?

If you are a well-established organization (international, government and non-governmental), with a demonstrable track record in child protection activities with an interest and capacity to provide international social work services and you want to contribute to the global ISS mission then you are welcome to join us!

How will you benefit from your ISS affiliation?

  • You contribute globally to our mission
  • You become affiliated to a worldwide network present in 120 countries and more
  • You have access to international social work services where you can exchange good practice
  • You have access to training and technical assistance
  • You have access to up-to-date research data and information on legal and advocacy tools
  • ou have a link to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) as well as to UN specialized agencies such as UNICEF and UNHCR or ECOSOC.

Talking about your organization:

  • Do you have qualified staff in child protection activities?
  • Does your organization work nationally?
  • Is your organization financially sustainable sustainability with a public annual budget?
  • Can your organization communicate in at least 2 of 3 languages of ISS? (English, French, Spanish)

What is expected of me as an ISS Correspondent organization?

  • Commitment to ISS mission and vision
  • Capacity to provide timely services and responses to the enquiries coming from the network
  • Active participation in the ISS community, regionally and internationally
  • Ability to communicate regularly on its activities and provides timely reporting to the ISS General Secretariat

ISS members work together

All ISS members work together for the welfare of children and their family. They share a common expertise in international social work and as such are able to provide efficient intercountry caseworkservices in their country and across borders.
